期待着撒下种子后的成长

老陈（化名）与妻子，育有一名学习缓慢的34岁儿子。基于年纪老迈，老陈与妻子都无法工作，唯一的儿子虽然学习缓慢，却也幸得一家工厂老板收留，成为一名技工助理，靠着30令吉日薪为生。
山打根浸信会7979全人关怀站的志工是非华裔，因此只能用马来文与老陈一家沟通。老陈一家对马来文的理解有限，也不识字，因而无法真正沟通。但在每次吗哪包探访中，志工总能在老陈与妻子的笑容中，感受到他们对生命的热爱。即使生活不容易，他们脸上依然常挂着笑容。难过的是，老陈在几个月前去世了，留下妻儿相依为命。幸而还有吗哪包的援助，虽然家里少了一家之主，但教会的陪伴和粮食的供应不会因此而中断。
日益严峻的疫情曾多次成为志工的拦阻。终于在最近一次的探访中，通晓客家话的华裔志工有机会陪同探访。他们以客家话交流，能深入交谈，并在简单的对话中，老陈的妻儿都愿意接受耶稣基督成为他们个人的救主。志工们除了带领他们祷告，更是不住地发出感恩与赞美。
虽然老陈已经离世，但是还在世的生命却更加成为志工们的动力。故事还未结束，未来等待着志工的，是更多的语言突破及跟进的工作。种子已经撒下，更令人期待的是他们的成长。
Looking Forward to the Spiritual Growth After Sowing the Seeds

Uncle Chen (pseudonym) and his wife have a 34 years old son who is a slow learner. Due to old age, both Uncle Chen and his wife were unable to work. Although his only son was slow in his studies, he was fortunate enough to be employed by a factory owner as a technician assistant, earning a living on a daily wage of RM30.
The volunteers at Sandakan Baptist Church 7979 Holistic Care Station are non-Chinese, so they can only communicate with Uncle Chen’s family in Malay. Uncle Chen was illiterate and the family was not fluent in Malay, so they could not really communicate with the volunteers. But whenever the volunteers dropped by to deliver the Manna Food bag, they could always feel their love for life in the smiles of Uncle Chen and his wife. Even though life was not easy, they still wore a smile on their faces. Sadly, Uncle Chen passed away a few months ago. He is survived by his wife and only son. Fortunately, they are in the Manna Food Bag program. Although the head of the family is now gone, the church’s company and food supply will not be interrupted.
The increasingly severe pandemic has repeatedly hindered the volunteers’ effort. Finally, during the most recent visit, Chinese volunteers who were fluent in Hakka had the opportunity to join in the visit. They communicated in Hakka and were able to have an in-depth conversation. During the brief and simple conversation, Uncle Chen’s wife and son were willing to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Apart from guiding them in prayer, the volunteers were feeling grateful and could not stop praising the Lord.
Although Uncle Chen has passed away, the surviving members of his family have become the motivation for the volunteers. The story is not over yet. What await the volunteers in future are the language breakthrough and follow-up work. The seeds have been sown, and we await their spiritual growth with great anticipation.
