坚强的阿嫲

84岁的阿嫲与三名孩子同住，其中两名皆是心障人士。一天，她在家中跌倒，受了重伤，家人把她送进医院抢救。但阿嫲年事已高，抢救不果，医生建议家属签署放弃抢救的同意书，否则她也只能继续痛苦地过完最后一两天的生命。
马来西亚基督教巴色会沙邦堂7979全人关怀站的志工收到家人致电求助后，立即前往医院了解情况。志工在医院安慰家属，也为阿嫲祷告。当众人都以为阿嫲的生命将尽时，她竟然奇迹般的撑过那两天，并恢复生命气息。
在生死边缘走了一圈，阿嫲坚强地活了下来，但需要透过管灌饮食来维持生命。庆幸的是，她意识清醒，但极度虚弱以致几乎无法说话。7979吗哪食物银行在这时介入了阿嫲的需要，为她提供了奶粉和成人纸尿片。“我们派吗哪包的时候，阿嫲用尽全力发出微弱的声音，说了谢谢两个字，这让我们非常感动。” 志工说到。几个月的调养后，阿嫲已经逐渐恢复力气，可以有说有笑，并无需再用输管进食。而阿嫲两个心障的孩子，之前害羞不愿意踏出房门，有一次竟然出来迎见他们。志工们心里深知，这是孩子们表达感激的方式，心里甚是感动。
The Strong Grandma

Grandma, aged 84, lives with her three children. Two of them are mentally disabled. One day, she was rushed to the hospital as she was severely injured after a fall at home. Since she was too old for surgery, the doctor opined that she only had 1 or 2 days left to live. The doctor also advised the family to sign the Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order to end her suffering.
The church volunteers from Basel Christian Church of Malaysia (BCCM) Sapong headed to the hospital immediately after they received a call from one of her family member asking for help. At the hospital, they comforted the family and prayed for Grandma. Just when everyone thought that Grandma was about to meet her end, she miraculously managed to pull through.
After a close encounter with death, Grandma was able to live on tube feeding. She was conscious but could barely utter a word as she was too weak. Manna Food Bag came at the right time, providing her with milk powder and adult diapers. The volunteers could never forget how Grandma, in her feeble voice, tried her best to say “thank you” when receiving the Manna Food Bag. After a few months of recuperation, Grandma gradually regained her strength. She was able to talk and laugh and no longer need the feeding tube. As for her two mentally disabled children who used to be shy when meeting strangers, they are now willing to come out from the room when the volunteers drop by. The volunteers are deeply moved as they understand that this is the way they express their gratitude.
