| The story of Yuezhu

While I was busy preparing lunch today, my husband lay paralyzed at home, unable to move. My house was a mess, and without peace. There was nothing I could do with three kids throwing things around the house.

Three years ago, the support of my family collapsed instantly when my husband became paralyzed into a vegetative state. I quit my job and concentrate on taking care of my husband at home. Every day, I am busy with all kinds of housework and my children.  Thankfully, my relatives are willing to support us to meet the basic expenses of our family.

In the past, I was so busy with my work that I neglected to teach my children, and now they are rebellious. Not only are they mischievous, they often don’t do their homework and have become problematic students at school. Sadly, I am not well educated, so I do not know what to do with them.

In 2019, a Chinese primary school provided a list of students who needed study accompaniment to Abba Love Revival Center, one of our 7979 Holistic Care Stations. So, the church co-workers visited all the children on the list, and Yuezue’s children happened to be in the list. During the visit, the church heard Yuezue’s desperate cry, therefore applied 7979 Manna Food Bank for her to help her family. The church got to know them better as and when they delivered Manna Food Bags to them. The church becomes Yuezue’s spiritual support, and the relationship between the child and the church has gradually become closer.

| Don’t understand is not equivalent to naughty

​Yuezhu’s three children are nine-year-old Zhiwei (pseudonym), seven-year-old Ziting (pseudonym) and four-year-old Zhihong (pseudonym).

The church saw that these children need adult’s company and guidance. When Companionship Class’s opening kept on delayed by the pandemic, the church still hopes that the children able to have companion and guidance in their study, so they decided to take Zhiwei to the church, in order for Pastor and Co-workers to teach him with his school work.

In the journey of accompany, the church got to know Zhiwei better and found out that he was not such a disobedient “naughty boy” as others have said. Zhiwei just didn’t understand a lot of things and didn’t know how to finish his homework. Later, when the pandemic situation in Sabah became severe, the Control Order was enforced again, Pastor ending up teaching children online through video conferencing software.

Seeing the transformation of their brother, Ziting and Zhihong started to do their homework on their own initiative. They were also eager to attend church’s Companionship Class because there is always someone available to accompany, teach and encourage them. Pastor agreed to their request and offered to take them to Companionship Class whenever possible as long as they are obedient.

​This year, the three siblings became serious in their studies and always completed their school work on their own initiative. Even Ziting, she often WhatsApp pastor whenever she encounters difficulty in her homework. The children all appear to have some changes and grow up, the mother could see that, they have changed from naughty, trouble-making children into obedient children who will do their homework voluntarily. Yuezhu has no worries for them now and therefore could concentrate on taking care of her husband.

Yuezhu’s paralyzed vegetative husband could only move his eyes. Every time when Pastor delivered Manna Food bag to them, he always prayed for him, he responded and even uttered some sound. At the same time, the church applied for him the Alpro Foundation’s Metabolic Basic nutritional milk powder. After receiving adequate nutrition, Yuezhu’s husband’s complexion improved significantly, and his previous constipation problem was also alleviated. Yuezhu was very grateful for the sponsorship of nutritional milk powder because she has no income and cannot afford to buy formula milk powder.

Yuezhu is very grateful for Manna Food Bank who provided food bags, that had taken away all her worries for food supplies; at the same time, the formula milk powder had also given her husband adequate nutrition, and lastly the children had become obedient and sensible. “Our relationship is like a family”, the Pastor emphasized repeatedly, he felt relief and shared “The kids text us from time to time. Whenever we deliver Manna Food Bag, they always can’t wait to see us, chat with us and share what they have experienced in the past two months.”

​The ongoing Pandemic has undoubtedly made the situation worse for Yuezhu’s family. When Manna Food Bags delivery ended after one year of every two months 1 bag delivery, the church will file another application for her. In the face of danger, the church did not gave up on Yuezhu’s family, instead they have resolutely accompanied her family at this period of time, as if they were walking through the darkest tunnel together, believing that the light is at the end. Such assistance is not only external assistance, but also the greatest spiritual support.
