这正是 ESG 的核心—–Environmental(环境)、Social(社会)、Governance(治理)。

“From Dining Table To The World”, 7979 Manna Food Bank And SDG

The kitchen’s lights switched on as the sun set, and the aroma of rice boiling in the pot filled the space; what is happening here is the preparation of a simple dinner. However, in another part of this city, someone is staring at the empty rice pot, wondering when they will have the next meal.
This is not merely a story about dinner over a dining table, it is a global issue. Food security, social care, resources distribution and environmental protection – they are all interlink and affecting today and tomorrow.
Under such circumstances, corporations, organisations and societies are becoming more concerned about sustainable development. Besides pursuing financial benefits, it is also willing to bear the responsibility of governing the environment and society, i.e. the core of ESG – Environment, Social and Governance. It provides the corporation with a benchmark to assess its performance in environmental protection, societal impact, and transparency in management.
Simultaneously, the United Nations proposed the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) for humankind to achieve 17 ultimate goals by 2030. At present, SDG has already become the common language for all earthlings. The corporations use it to plan for their social responsibility, the governments use it to draw policies, and the NGOs use it to check their impact towards the societies.
Among these 17 goals, SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) are all closely related to our Manna Food Bank ministry.
Looking from the ESG’s (Environment, Social and Governance) perspective, 7979 Manna Food Bank is quite commendable.
Under the E of Environment, when we work hand in hand with retail shops and suppliers to reduce food wastage and promote responsible consumption, it aligns with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
As the S of Social, our long-term commitment to providing food aid to financially disadvantaged families, improving their health and welfare, perfectly corresponds with SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality).
In terms of the G for Governance, we work with different sectors of society, such as corporations, churches, NGOs and government. We employ a model that is transparent and auditable, hence building a trustworthy relief network that again aligns with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
When we approach from the SDG perspective, we can fine-tune our work and be more effective.

Long-term food aid to
reduce the burdens of financially disadvantaged families.

Ensuring that the financially disadvantaged families have stable and sufficient food supplies.

Reduce the risk of malnutrition and alleviate the physical and mental distress caused by financial pressure.

Care towards marginalised groups, such as the elderly,
physical disability or people living in isolated places.

Creating a platform for corporations, churches and charity organisations to
come together to share resources, achieving missions that are impossible to manage by itself.
Heartfelt thanks to all corporations, churches and individuals for your consistent support for the work of 7979 Manna Food Bank. Your participation not only changed countless numbers of families’ conditions at the dining tables, but it also left behind heart-warming footprints in our journey of pursuing the global SDG.
Every contribution symbolises a brick closer to realising SDG, which impacts not only one family but also contributes towards the promotion of sustainable development of a society. Starting from a bag of rice or a bottle of cooking oil, 7979 Manna Food Bank is already closely linked with the global SDG’ agenda.
Whether you are a corporation, church or individual, you can surely find your position in the journey of “From Dining Table to the World”. Because when we feed one hungry person, it not only changes one’s life, but we are moulding a more righteous, heart-warming, and sustainable world.
